He died. Probably dead 20 minutes before the 911 call. You know, the hardest part was the fact that the ones who found him were 3 kids under the age of 10, and they kept asking if that man was dead. It's hard to explain that kinda thing to them.

That's just how our dispatch calls it out, "priority one cardiac arrest, full arrest at...."

I recently talked to an EMT in NV who was fluent in cardiac monitoring. Obviously a very useful skill to have, but how common is this? I know hospitals in my area require ED techs to have certification. I really am interested in learning more about monitoring.

I mainly use it on syncopal episodes to decide if I am comfortable allowing pt to AMA without ALS on scene. I've had a lady at 100/68 sitting, and as soon as I stood her up it dropped to 70/40. Obviously I'm not gonna kidnap her, but you can bet I got ALS to take over.

You know that's a very interesting point, and I definitely see where you are coming from. As someone who has been boarded post traumatic injury I understand the discomfort.

He had no idea that his arm and leg were broken. Some compromised cms distal to the injuries.
