NJ EMS is Awful, and Here's Why

I can feel the fists quenching if volunteers right now 😂😂 I don’t get why volunteers want to hold on to it so long why would you not want to be paid! Let it go! Sign all of you ambulances on to a county service or something! And this is coming from a volunteer..

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

No, I learned that administering it to a cardiac arrest patient with a suspected opioid overdose would be benificial.

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

Haven't been on in a while, but just read all of the messages. Good conversation, I think everyone learned something.

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

Aren't those all side effects of opioid withdrawal? I realize they are serious side effects but it's kind of the risk you take when you shoot heroin into your arm right?

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

Thanks for that.. I think the issue with making equipment like the AED so user friendly is that it does not require the provider to learn the back ground info

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

I was always told that there are essentially no side effects to Narcan other than those of opioid withdrawal.. can you tell me what these side effects are? I'm not here to challenge anyone's thoughts or knowledge, I am genuinely trying to get more information and insight on a topic I do not know...

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

What about in the situation where it isn't cardiac arrest but an irregular heart rythem such as sinus tach or v tach? That is what I believe had happened with my patient since the AED indicated a shock 5 times before I had cleared the scene

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

I knew when I said "it can't hurt them to give it" that that would start some conversation.. I do not like to go by that logic often but in this case I kind of am for it

Should we use Narcan on all CPR calls?

I went on a call last week, 37 y/o male appeared healthy, CPR in progress died at the Hospital.. in hindsight I realize how it is strange for him to be in this situation at such a young age and could have been due to an overdose or bad mix of meds.. Should we give every CPR/non-breathing pt...

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

That is fine with me, stay in Texas! Most 911 calls in Jersey are answered by volunteers.. People who care about their patients and community. You guys could learn from us!

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

    1) my partner may very well just be a driver depending on what time of the day the call comes in 2)Narcan is a BLS medication that we now carry 3)it's a soft tube that goes up their nose I don't know why everyone is up in arms about it! You can do more damage by not inserting one when it is...

I agree and I believe we are saying pretty much the same thing

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

Not in Jersey! PD is first on scene then BLS second and third ALS. So until ALS gets there it is a BLS call.. Just because you didn't know **** as a basic doesn't mean the rest of us don't..

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

Who gets on scene first ALS or BLS? I don't understand why all of you medics can't stick to the ALS forum because you seem to have forgotten your days as a basic when there aren't a lot of skills you can utilize to care for your patients. When I get on scene and am the highest level of medical...

BVM mishap. Did I do something wrong?

The need an NPA not an OPA.. Which is what I've been saying! Have you really never seen an overdose parient who squirms around moaning with an AMS that isn't cognitively alert enough to maintain their airway?? I know what I'm talking about I see a lot of ODs in my area!
