A discussion I was having down at the squad building- If you were on a code and ALS was unavalible (a virtual impossibility but even so) would you use an epi pen to get epi flowing while performing CPR and AED? would there be a downside do it?
allow me to clarify
If the pain was LRQ medics would have been called.
Hospital is about 5-7 mins away l/s
I ask the pain scale the may my instructor taught me. As 1 is a normal headache, 10 I'm actively cutting off limbs with a chainsaw.
Als is about 4-5 mins out.
We had a discussion today down at the squad building about whether Als should be sent out for a possible appendicitis. The pt. chief was complaint was a stabbing pain the lower left quadrant. 10/10 no radiation
Als dispatch?
Sorry to hear about you're bad experiance. It's normal though.
When I had my first (and only so far) death, it was as cpr at a swimming pool, I didn't feel anything. Like anything. I was wondering if that was wierd. I saw the family crying and still, like a machine i just went into...
We didn't
Having come of youth squad and now being 18+, you are 100% right in NJ you cannot. I did know of neighboring squads who would let a guy younger if the pt. was a broken ankle or something minor though. As for the rule, I think it's bogus. The day I turned 18 I was in the back alone...

Hey,
My friend on another squad was telling me that they got on the front of their rig a device mounted that, if the car in front of you isn't getting out of your way, can somehow make the car vibrate.
He wasn't sure what it was called or where to get one.
Anyone ever hear of this?
Yes
We don't restock the rig, Backboards cravats, NRBs ect. but we do take sheets and blankets and towels and such.
We leave them there, so we need to take them back.
All boards and non throwaway items we leave at the Hostpital they leave in a room and we have our squad name on them and...
If you can't tell if your patient had one of these by the way their breath smells..lol
But I do get what your saying, tho I only ask when I think it's relevant. if my pt. just broke her arm, she could have eaten a 8 course meal laced with acid and it won't make a difference..well on my report...
true true, he was an old schooler..O2 on everyone and smith if he coudn't understand/spell your last name.
not saying he was right, just that it was a funny story
In real life I'm putting her on O2, doing assessments, taking a history (in testing don't forget last oral:P, (( funny story about that, on the day of my pratical when I went through sample, my instructor told me that if he ever heard that I asked that on anything other than a diabetic he's...
