I perfer the Type Is where you can still get into the front and yell at the driver at the same time. Our trucks only have one seat in the back (no bench) and its for the Paramedic at the head so you can either sit on the second stretcher which isin't restrained so not good. Therefore, you can...
Our protocols say we are deemed to be on duty even if we are off duty and that we can use our scope of practice but only if we use our clinical guidelines.
So I carry our clinicals pocket guide, CPR barrier and a pair of gloves in my back pocket.
We are covered by law here which basically...
I think (which can be dangerous) that the changes are basically what came out in the 2005 AHA guidelines.
Since I've been round CPR has gone from 5:1 to 15:2 to 30:2.
The CPR shield I have in my back pocket still shows 15:2 on the packet.
Of course, we could go back to the "old" methods...
Here, we treat SVT as a tachydysrhythmia (because that's what it is :P) unless it's puseless in which case we treat it as a cardiac arrest.
From what I understand SVT decreases cardiac output, not stops it all together. I was talking to a fellow medic friend who said that if you deliver an...

Well now that is interesting, I read the Circulation publication when the 2005 AHA guidelines came out but I didn't remember specificaly seeing that. If I had a choice between being given epi or any other vasoconstrictor or not I'd take it!
We recently eliminated atropine from asystole/PEA...

Remember that because Ambulance Officers (National Certificate) can do nitro, glucose etc they are (in some jurisdictions) considered EMT...
Oh yes please!!
If the Police get a vest and lots of toys then we EMS providers whould get something, we deal with nutters and people who are high too!
I'd be happy with a stab resistant vest and either OC spray or a ASP baton. I would perfer OC spray because it a) works better and b)...
In New Zealand we have B/I/ALS ambulances and fly cars. Some of the country has all ILS and ALS ambulances while the rest has a mix of BLS, ILS and ALS with fly cars.
Because a station might only have one ALS ambulance we also have fly cars. They work well except that a fly car is often to...
Hi
We have four publicly funded providers and five different levels of qualification depending on who you work for it will vary as to who staffs a rig. The qualifications are standardized by the Government but not a license to practice or special status like in the US.
1. Primary Care...
