No. They'll ask you about it if you're working on a public dept/fd, so just explain what happened and be honest about it because they'll do a background check on you anyway.
So I know that the more extensive subjects in medic school are going to be cardiology and pharmacology, which ironically were my worst subjects in EMT school... I'm determined to ace and master both of these subjects in medic school, which doesn't start until June (I'm taking a Paramedic...
I'm in a paramedic transition course and it starts in a month. Last night I came across the entire course summary on blackboard, including all homework assignments and worksheets. I'm gonna print them out and do everything before class starts so that I could just get it out of the way :)
I'm part time now but when I was full time I had the same partner for almost a year. I preferred it that way because we figured out how we worked together. It was just easier. We knew what side of the cot is ours, who's pulling during sheet drag. I knew he's good at paperwork so I didn't have to...
Applying to medic school for the second time... the first time I was put on a "waiting list" and didn't get chosen. So I'm praying this time goes well cause I just wanna get this **** over with already :(
I was maybe a week into my first EMT job. We got a call for a seizure and the female pt was on the couch trying to get up. She had skinny legs, skinny arms, chubby face and her abdomen looked like she was about 7 months pregnant. She kept trying to get up so I told her, "Ma'am please just stay...
1930 Our unit was dispatched to a nursing home for sexual assault of a female.. no other info. My partner and I automatically think that this was staff vs pt and while we were on the way are thinking of all the scenarios that could have happened. We get on scene, PD is there (2 units) so we...
Just keep applying. I didn't get my first EMS job until 5 months after I was done with school. Look for Private ambulance companies first.... or if you wanna go the emt/ff route, go to firehouses and ask how to get in and go through academy. Good luck.
Hey guys,
Has anyone here gone through the Good Sam Medic program? I'm thinking about applying.. Is it a good school? And if anyone has any pointers about the application process, I would greatly appreciate it :)
Thanks! :)
Think back to the day you've been a newly hired EMT, waiting to start your first shift of the rest of your life.... What were some of your biggest fears about the job? Were those fears realized? Did they not even seem like a big deal when they happened?
Tell me your stories, I'm interested :)
Hi all,
I'm Lena. 23yr old EMT-B from the Chicago suburbs. I got certified in NY and completed reciprocity and I'm clear to work in Illinois. I just got hired by a private so I'm excited to get started on my EMS career... :)
Hi all,
I'm a new EMT just wanting to know what are the best (and most comfortable) shoes to work in based on your experiences? I don't mind spending a few extra dollars if it means they'll be comfortable, long lasting and reliable. Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks :)
