I know this post is over a year old, but I take the ICEMA test soon, and wanted some insight. I've memorized the treatment protocols, know the rest of the protocols decent, just wondering how the test will be.
I believe Northern California (?) was testing 7.5% Saline with Dextran, a HIGH hypertonic solution with osmotic and oncotic pull for trauma patients. I heard it had very positive results on the patients. But this is something that was passed through the grapevine to me.
Sounds like Los Angeles...haha just kidding
Alright well I'll definitely look into those areas you mentioned. Hopefully none of those things happen to my fiancee or me.
I get asked this question constantly. My fiancee got a teaching position down there as a two year contract. Only plan on living down there for that time, then moving more up north towards Houston/Austin area, but just looking for work when I'll be down there for the two years. Ill be fresh out...
Honestly it's up to what you want to do. Everyone is saying Bowers will treat you better. You might be a pretty new EMT so you're looking for the best paying job, but once you get more seasoned you'll find out that you want to be at more of a stable company that doesn't cut corners and treat...
Long Beach station is part of the Long Beach Airport, and I heard they just moved to that North Hollywood Station, I was told it was AMR's old North Hollywood station so I'm sure its up to par. I used to be a FTO for them (before going to medic school) so when I worked in the valley it was...
I personally say Bowers over APA but that's because I worked for Bowers for awhile. Bowers is definitely a really big company, especially now that they are owned by Rural/Metro.

www.emtb.com has practice quizzes for each chapter, and has a national registry practice test. If you google emt practice test, there will be alot of national practice quizzes that you can take to help you prepare.
The National Registry will accept measuring from the ear lobe to the corner of the mouth. That's the proper measuring technique taught for a suction catheter
I have 2 speeding tickets and an accident within the past 3 on my driving record. I just got hired as a driver for a company in Southern California. Just keep trying, someone will eventually hire you. You might want to apply to private companies as an attendant EMT. Good luck though, don't give up!!
