Need help!!!!

Hey guys so my state license and nremt expired lapsed about a year and a half now, so now my current medical transport company now wants to do bls ambulance transport....so I was asked to recert. I have never done this before I’ve looked online but everything is very confusing so I need to get my nremt again or just do ce’s to recert with state? Plz help thank you!!!!

What state are you in? Also if you look at the recert requirements it will tell you what you need to do based on how long your carts have been expired.

Hey thanks for the response! I live in California. Yea it said I need to retake my NREMT is that the psychomotor and cognitive test? My god it’s been forever! Lol and also I have to complete 48 hours of ce’s

If you already have an unexpired State of California EMT card then you're good to go. California only requires that you obtain NREMT certification to initially certify. You can let your NREMT lapse so long as you maintain your California EMT card. To recertify your California EMT certification, you need to do 24 hours of CEs and a skills test.

Unless you plan on working in a state other than California or for some ungodly reason your employer is requiring that you maintain your NREMT...then you don't have to renew your NREMT, only your California EMT.

Yes, you do the 48 hour CE, take the NREMT exam and so on. Don't forget that you might need to obtain an Ambulance Driver Certificate if you're required to drive ambulances. If you don't have to drive those, the certificate is not necessary.

Once that's all done, don't let your cert lapse again. It's too much of a headache to have to renew it after you let it lapse. That's one reason why I haven't let my Paramedic license lapse.
