I am a volunteer emt-b and am on call every 6th night . When i am not on call for the med i respond from home in my own personal vechicle with my kit and i usually get there before the med. Only to calls in my own township.
As far as difference between the two there isn't much. As an emt i can use glucometer, administer glucagon, albuterol, aspirin, epi, and use a combi-tube. while the first responders cannot .
And no i do not have a cheese wedge hat. But my brother does. :p
I hope that answers your questions, if not i'll do my best to clear it up for ya.
