Hi everyone,
I have worked as a 2nd Lieutenant with a firefighter company in Guatemala for roughly 10 months and developed a number projects in the field along with giving some training classes.
Because of the nasty conditions down there I am hoping to build a sustainable education program with volunteers who are willing to fly down there at their own expense and train -- for a few days -- the ambulance teams and firefighters to the best of their abilities. It is a hands-on, down-to-earth, but gratifying job in a part of the world with horrendous EMS.
Please, spread the word and my email address and feel free to contact me under:
gerald@bomberosxela.org
if you have any questions or suggestions or experience.
I was trained as an advanced first responder in Europe and attended an EMT class in the States -- but have not taken the NR exam yet. The reason for my ambition is that something has to be done in a country where there is a small number people willing to give their time and health without continuous support.
Thanks,
Gerald
