Common Abbreviations

I'm a student at WHCEMS in Katy, TX and I'm slowly learning everything on ride-alongs and preparing for EMT-Basic training in January. While lurking the forums I've found several abbreviations that I don't know and seem common. I've wrote some down and was wondering if everyone could just add to the list some common abbreviations you might use or see either on the forum, in the field, or in a book.

NS - N? Saline
KVO - Keep Vein Open
TKO - To Keep Open
LPM -
NRB - Non-Rebreathing Mask
CYA -
SA02 - Oxygen Level in Blood
pt - Patient
PT - ?something else?
IV - Intravenous
IM - Intramuscular
HIPAA - Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
DNR/DNI - Do Not Recussitate/Do Not Intubate
CVA -
SNF - Skilled Nursing Facility
ALOC -
LE/LEO - Law Enforcement Officer
BP - Blood Pressure
PCN - ?Penicillin?
TSS - Toxic Shock Syndrome
FD - Fire Department
D-50: Dextrose 50%
BGL - Blood Glucose Level
LOC - Level of Consciousness
PVC
RSI - Rapid Sequence Intubation
TQI -

SCBA - Self Contained breathing apparatus
PPE - Personal Protective Equipment. Varies on the nature of call...
NS - NORMAL Saline
LPM - Liters per Minute
NRB - Non-Rebreathing Mask also NRBM
CYA - Cover Your A**
pt - Patient
PT - Physical Therapy???
HIPAA - EVIL Incarnate
CVA - Stroke
ALOC - Altered Level of Consciousness
BP - Blood Pressure
PCN - Penicillin
LOC - Level of Consciousness - Also, Loss of consciousness
PVC - Premature Ventricular Contraction
FLB - Funky little beat. PVC's are a form of FLB
TQI -Total Quality improvement??
GSW - Gunshot Wound (Also known as High-velocity Lead Poisoning)

Nah, they will just lock us out because we did it before.

JVD- jugular veinous distention
TD- tracheal deviation
CP- chest pain
SOB- short of breath
AOXPPTE- alert and oriented to person place time event
PW+D- skin pink warm and dry
HEENT- head eyes ears nose throat
L/S- lung sounds
ABDSNT- abdomen soft non tender
P/M/S- pulse motor sensation
BGL- blood glucose level

Just a few I use everyday on every patient care form I write.
