EMT seeking first job:
First of all, "Go Army", even though I'm a retired USAF major.
However, a mom joining with kids at this stage and her age is not realistic. For young people (I joined when I was 22 during a recession) it can make a big difference, especially if they set up payroll savings and work on their GI Bill educational aid and VA home loans if they still exist; however, not only will the military look upon her as a square peg, but she will lose contact with a teenaged son and is about to gain a grade school daughter, not to mention that a two-service-member family is prone to each spouse being sent a different direction.
Been there, seen it, and had a taste during DESERT STORM. Good thinking, but good thinking produces dead ends as well as winners.
PS: don't believe every "ex-Army medic" you talk to.
