When I have Basic Student's on the rig, I usually let them do most of it! They do the Assesment, Vitals (which I re-do to make sure its correct), and the PCR! They always know that I am there if they have questions. And I ask questions throughout the call and have them answer them!!

Ana, don't listen to him!! I have taken calls for PED's and Children multiple times. It's not the easiest thing to do, but it will get better. Most of the time, they are going to be ok, and probably just a lil sick!! I have never had a call for a PED or Child crash on me!!

When I did mine I think it was the Brady 11th Edition!! Yes you have to do hands-on-stations also!! They aren't that bad, just have to pay attention when they teach you them, and you should be fine!!

I am an EMT-B in NYS!! The test's lately have been a bit challenging so I would recommend studying as much as you can. And NYS does not recognize NREMT, last that I knew of.

As I have experienced doing CPR and AED in the back of the Ambulance. If you pull the Ambulance over while you are enroute with a Code you are delaying the treatment the pt could be receiving at the hospital. While enroute to the hospital, you should not pull over to Shock the pt!!!!
