so I know I'm posting on a really old thread here but...
Did you take the job? How is it? Any tips you have on getting accepted there? I'm a Paramedic student and I really want to work for EMSA once I graduate.
Hello All,
I'm a Paramedic student in Kansas and my goal post graduation (December) is to work for EMSA Western Division (Oklahoma City). I'll be doing 48 hours internship with them mid-August through my class.
I'm posting to get advice from any current EMSA EMT or Medic. Are there any...
I like to inflate a BP cuff to the Pt's mean BP and let their arm dangle while I prep my equipment. When I'm ready to stick, those veins are usually huge and obvious.
Or I'll run a flashlight under my Pts hand and search for one.
If worse comes to worse, and you're just not able to get...
I'm not looking for answers. I specifically said I'm looking for opinions.
Adenosine is pregnancy class c according to my field guide therefore there’s a risk of damage. Since posting, I've searched for information online and have found several different sites offering information. Some say...
Hello all-
My Paramedic course instructor assigned us an optional extra credit research paper about the effects of Adenosine on a pregnant females fetus; specifically whether is would stop the fetus heart as well while trying to correct a dysrhythmia in the mother.
I'm just now beginning my...
Oh hell, I keep forgetting about that. Haha, you're right. That's what was used all throughout my B & I classes so it got ingrained in my head. :P
BTW, you forgot to say 'appearing'
I agree, and if I was putting across the motion of only providing O2 then I apologize. Of course, when 02 or another intervention is indicated then provide it. I was simply stating my opinion of what to do when there really aren’t any indicated interventions.
Simply transporting is completely...
You did nothing wrong. Yes, you could of done CPR but in all reality it probably wouldnt of helped. If the guy died; It was from the accident, not from you.
In our service, a traumatic arrest resuscitation like that wouldnt even be initated. Our protocols says to give them a body bag & wait...
C-Spine doesn't necessarily mean using a C-Collar. The goal is to immobilize the head, neck, & back. You're allowed to use whatever you have to in order to accomplish that.
If your Ped collar is too big, go grab a towel & some tape and/or coband.
Yes, O2 is normally withheld until indicated. However, I don't completely agree with that. If you have a Pt who's in pain, dyspnoeic, or with any other complaint than you need to do something; anything. Simply putting them in your truck & monitoring vitals en-route isn't sufficient.
I almost...
Seriously? Have you ever seen a delivery? Sh** gets messed up down there during delivery. If you deliver your child, I don't think you'll ever want to have sex with your girlfriend again. You'll look at her vagina and keep remembering that horrid & messy day.
It's my understanding that (Based on my protocols) unless that RN is a part of the 911 system which she activated, then the abandonment issues don't pertain to her.
The RN there is providing care on behalf of that school. When you arrive, you'll initiate care on behalf of your EMS service. At...
Ok, so you're saying the ion itself carries the depolarization through the pathway?
It was my understanding that the NA+ & K+ simply switched interior/exterior positions on/in the cell which creates the depolarization which was then, itself (the electricity,) shot down the conduction pathway...
