I have been contemplating the idea of moving to the Phoenix area. One of the issues that's keeping me from making the move right now is that most of the companies that I know of are owned by Rural Metro. My employment here didn't work out so great with them and I'm afraid that might carry with...
Yes I can see where they would if personal identifying information is part of it without owner's consent. While the codes are unique and may be able to give out health information, they don't necessarily identify patient's by any information they don't voluntarily provide. At that point HIPAA...
She stated people would have to be aware what they put on the site. All information is voluntary. No security needed if they're not putting sensitive material on the site.
I still believe its a great idea.
I wrote a paper in college about RFID tags in people that could identify medical conditions. Now this was before these little bar codes. And since nearly everyone carries smart phones and can download free scanner apps, I think this is something that should be considered.
People can choose...
My morals won't allow me let someone in need of help go without it whether I'm on duty or not.
As far as with a patient and we come across a MVA we stop do a window check and call our dispatch who'll in return send the appropriate people. If they're ok we'll tell them help is on the way. If...
Heard a few rumors that SM was planning on acquiring Littleton and West Metro.
Has anyone else heard this or have any updated information on the plans?
They are really young. And it is a good place to get the experience you need to move up. When they hired me the "fto" (they don't really have one) at the time told me that they are a place that gives people who don't have any experience the experience they need to move up.

I haven't heard any more stories lately about people doing the cinnamon challenge but if you were called to a victim who failed and now can't breath, how would you treat it? My thinking is and correct me if I'm wrong but pushing air into them helps how when you could be pushing the cinnamon into...
If you piss me off tomorrow I'm gonna toss you out the back. I'll be nice and have you buckled to the cot! So eat breakfast and you're gonna nap after our first call lol. Make sure to bring lots of water also or I'll buy you a few at the gas station ;)
You just have to request to work with me. Completely understandable about the only driver part. Until you are confident you can run these "emergencies" on your own, keep telling him no unless he pairs you with an EMT instead a driver. Then take the opportunity to learn from us. It's amazing when...
I took vitals throughout the whole trip. Nothing really changed by anything more than a couple points on any vital. With the exception of getting the temp to 104.
I just got my patient follow up from St. Anthony's.
My pt is septic from a UTI. Not enough to warrant ICU. They have him on Med/Surge pushing fluids and antibotics. Seems he is doing ok.
I can start doing it I guess. My company doesn't ever ask for it and I was never trained to do it.
