    College EMS Legality

Please do correct me if I'm reading this wrong but I am under the impression that I am protected as I am not receiving any compensation of any kind. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=604A.01

    College EMS Legality

Hey all, I'm looking into starting a college EMS here at the college I go to now. This might be a completely stupid question, but I was wondering why a service has to be registered and have a medical director etc? I ask this because I currently work as medical standby for sports games and I'm...

    Air Medical Crews

As just a regular non EMS employed college student going down the pre-med track. I've always had mad respect for paramedics, in my mind flight paramedics have reached the apex of prehospital medicine. I was on a ridealong shift last week with a flight paramedic who worked some ground shifts...

Cleats at Sports Pitchside Medical Standby?

Yeah I guess. The reason I thought of it is that team physios (physical therapists/trainers I suppose) especially for rugby, usually wear cleats since they usually run on field at first sign of trouble. For rugby at least.

Cleats at Sports Pitchside Medical Standby?

I work at my college as medical standby for contact sports. I have always wondered about this? Can anyone with pitchside experience tell me if it's a good idea to be wearing cleats? I do walk back and forth in the training room once in awhile but spend most of the time by the sidelines. I...

    What's next for me? (Training)

Hey guys, So I'm sort of at a roadblock here, I'm currently a college student here in the US (I'm an international student). I'm the type of person that is always looking to further my knowledge and skills. However here's the situation: I'm currently a wilderness first responder/EMR with...

    EMS Books like Canning's

Hi all, I've been reading a bunch of EMS related books and have found some pretty good ones. But what I've noticed something that Peter Canning does but doesn't usually appear in other authors' books is that he includes a lot of the technical details in his narrative. So that the reader is...

    AED: CPR after Shock, why?

Hey all, I have recently become a first aid, cpr/aed instructor with the ARC and this is a question often brought up by students and to be honest I haven't got this one quite figured out yet. If the AED analyzes the pt's heart rhythm and determine that it's shockable. It shocks. Why do we...

    Unresponsive

I'm shooting in the dark here with my limited knowledge but could this be a hyperglycemic episode? Her BGL suggested hyperglycemia for me, however can a patient without diabetes have a hypo/hyperglycemic episode? Wouldn't their pancreas correct that if they didn't have diabetes? I'm not...

    Splinting Angulated Fractures

Does anyone have any visual aid on how to splint an angulated fracture though? I agree on splinting it as it is but I haven't seen anyone do this before so I'm unsure how to splint it in the position it was found. Would you secure the sites above and below the point of fracture? Sorry if...

    Splinting Angulated Fractures

Right, but say if there was no CSM compromise, limb circulation is fine but its all bent out of shape. I volunteer on the sidelines for school games and I was curious how I should splint that up before transporting them to the hospital.

    Splinting Angulated Fractures

Hi all, I have a question regarding splinting of angulated fractures, I was taught as a WFR to apply traction and straighten it out but I know this is probably not the case on the street. How would one apply a splint to angulated fractures on the tibia/fibula or ulna/radius? Thanks!
