I earned my EMT-Basic at community college and have my BA and MA degrees from public universities. I don't think the prestige of my college has ever helped me get a job in EMS or teaching.
Those of you working in the field, do you judge or notice trends when students attend certain institutions?
With paramedic schools, there seems to be hierarchy and schools people consider better than others for various reasons, usually (in the past) not because they afford you a college degree in paramedicine itself.
Thankfully, this trend seems to be rapidly heading towards more and more paramedic degree programs in my state. This, I think, is great and may push some of the "puppy mill" programs off to the side, and/ or make them obsolete.
Does HR really care where you went to school?
I highly doubt my HR department would take notice of where I got my degree whether it be online, or at a prestigious university other than to take notice of my end goals. For example, a biology major who graduated from UCLA and is now a paramedic probably doesn't plan on being one for very long, or at least I'd hope not.
