Because if you're not from Acadian, you're not a real medic. Or you're actually a good medic because you're not stuck at Acadian... Something like that.

One of the #1 things to never say/ask a medic...

What is the "worst" (meaning best), "grossest", "disgusting" or "craziest" call you have been to.

Keep studying student, be the best EMT or Medic you can be and then switch over to paid if that is your plan and work hard for many years. Then, a new awareness or understanding will fall upon you.

.
I find stories of people who have shat themselves and are in a room that reeks of UTI urine usually kills the curiosity to pry for the "cool" ones pretty quick.

You should read Kelly Grayson's book. He is/was an Arcadian medic and the whole book is war stories.

I bet Acadian loves volunteers. Even more money for Richard Z's yacht!

That's admirable. I wish some of my staff would volunteer for the humanitarian aspect and help me fatten my pockets too!

On a side note, is it even legal for a for-profit private company to have volunteer employees? I mean, wouldn't Acadian be subject to FLSA?

How does this work?

It's an explorer post, an offshoot of the Boy Scouts. I doubt they're doing anything that could be construed as work, when compared to the business, so they don't have volunteers doing "the job". The explorers may do event first aid or shadow EMS crews.

Where I am, the police explorers direct traffic parking cars at the fairgrounds and learn about the job. I think it's a worthwhile group for kids who may want to get involved in police, fire or EMS. (Usually attracts a fair amount of whackers though)

Well that's good. I like how they brainwash folks into thinking the Acadian Way is the One True Way. Truth is, Acadian EMS is pretty limited, both in terms of what it can do for people and how their employees are treated.
