Update on ambulance director charged with manufacturing meth

Carol Maze's future with the Arab Ambulatory Service is uncertain after she was charged with second degree manufacturing of a controlled substance.

The mayor of Arab is weighing the evidence to try to determine if Maze, the director of the Arab Ambulatory Service, should be fired.

Maze was arrested last week for allegedly having a meth lab in her house.

Marshall County Drug Task Force Commander Ricky Phillips said the odor from the meth lab was obvious the moment he stepped on the porch.

"All the precursor chemicals, the heat source, the glassware, all the components to manufacturing meth were located throughout the house and it appeared it had actually produced meth at some time," said Phillips.

Meth-making materials were found in a bathroom, two bedrooms, a closet and the garage.
