This is simple, but always ask patients "Do you think you're able to walk out to the ambulance?" Saves your back, saves time and also reduces chance of dropping patient.

Also, if you're lucky enough to have a doc meet you in the ER while you're giving your report, stick around, you get to see and learn all sorts of cool things. (Especially applies to critical pts.)
