I will be starting my first paid job as a emt, and i am looking for pointers. what should I be bring with me on shifts? I will be working a day shift and 2 night shifts 7pm to 7am. I did do my ride along for class with the company i will be working for and they have stations with beds. I don't start till the middle of the month. but I am trying to get everything ready for when I start. can anyone help me and give advice?

Tons of posts just like this with helpful responses, if you use the search feature you will find them.

It is more than acceptable to call a supervisor to ask these questions. They don't expect you to know much before hiring, and most places have an orientation.

Don't bring your kids.

If you're on a 12 hour shift (or anything less than a 24) those beds aren't for you.
I second Tigger

Oh c'mon. I work 16s on occasion and the first thing I do is stake out a bunk. :)

But yes, no kids. And stay away from weird people in the grocery store. Especially if they have a homemade uniform on.

Homemade karate uniforms are the worst...

Au contraire! On an average 12 hour night shift I spend somewhere between 6-8 hours in my bunk with occasional room for interruptions. Heaven forbid someone else gets anywhere near my bunk in my regular station on my regular shift...

If I'm on a 12 and there are beds...

I'm sleeping. Lol

We only have two people per station, and there are two bedrooms.

Beds or a comfy couch=sleep.
I would recommend bringing a backpack with all the "necessities" such as a cellphone charger, travel pillow, some snacks, and other miscellaneous items.

I can't find any :x

This is fun, I can just keep going. It's keeping me from studying for medic school, so thank you for the excuse to procrastinate.
