SF woman dies while waiting for paramedics

SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco woman died while waiting for paramedics to reach her.

Authorities say one 911 caller's efforts to bring a speedy response may have delayed emergency teams.

Just before 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, the first call went out that a San Francisco woman needed emergency medical care, NBC11's Christien Kafton reported.

Neighbors say Nicole Cunningham had recently had surgery and was bleeding to death.

That's exactly what my department would have done in that situation as well. Anytime we get dispatched to any call that may involve a threat to our safety (suicide, OD, assault, etc.), we hold clear of the scene until PD arrives and declares the scene safe. Now usually, PD will already be on-scene when we arrive or at about the same time, but if not, we wait.

PD and EMS got called for an EDP here yesterday. A 26 yo cop ended up being shot with his own gun when the EDP fought him and 2 partners and wrestled the gun away from him. Luckily, the kevlar stopped the bullet, although the cop was still in bad shape due to the trauma from the point blank shot to the abdomen. What if the EMS crew had run in there before or at the same time as the cop? They don't have kevlar.
