Recruit Class

I was wondering, what are some of the things EMTs and firefighters have to go through in recruit class? Is there such thing as just an EMT recruit class? If there is, what are some of the physical requirements? If you're going through a firefighter recruit class, what should I expect? I'm pretty sure it's different in each county/state, but if I could get a general idea that would be helpful.

For firefighter recruit school, expect LOTS of PT, hard work and a mix of class room and practical (firefighting and overhaul) training.

Most city FD's have a recruit class. Even if you come from another career agency you have to go through it. Most EMS agency's have some type of orientation and some have a "rookie" class. I just got a P/T gig to get back on an ambulance and have to do a one week new hire class. Good way to get to know the protocols, equipment, and radio. Less stressful then getting acclimated running calls.
