I'm an EMT student and a little nervous about the physical (Im a volunteer). I have PTSD/bipolar with one commitment... is that an automatic disqualifier? They are both under control (on meds, see a therapist, etc)

That would have been a great question to ask before you started school, but since that ship has sailed, your next step is to call your states oems office and ask them. Since you didn't identify your state, nobody here can help you.

For what it's worth, I don't know of any state that restricts the registration of such a case. In all honesty, if the mentally ill weren't allowed in ems, there'd be nobody to staff the trucks.

Do you anticipate your conditions interfering with your ability to perform safely and professionally?
I assume the answer is "no," otherwise you wouldn't have signed up, right?
You are probably just fine. Continue with your treatment and be the best EMT you can be.
