I recently read a side comment in an older post about people who work for AMR and every few years transfer to a new location. Has anybody done this and can talk on it? Does AMR (still) pay travel expenses and allow for this kind of constant movement? Seems really cool, like a good way to get to see the country.

Unless the division you are transferring to is offering a relocation bonus then no they will not pay for your travel.

Transferring requires the area you want to transfer to to have an open position and you need to be in good standings with the company (no write ups in a 6 month time frame I believe).

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Currently in a figuring-out-my-career-path sort of state, looking at all my options. Still though, seems doable and kinda fun. Maybe in another life...

And here I thought this was going to be some kind of cult like worship thread for @NomadicMedic
