Ever wonder how the same people can keep showing up around EMS, in leadership roles, despite catastrophic foul ups, fraud and a history of broken companies?

For example, check out the leadership team at Allegiance Mobile Health of Texas: http://www.allmh.com/management-team

Mr. Powell's Guardian company was not particularly known for integrity or quality, and apparently not paying its last victims in Oklahoma when they collapsed last year, and if Glassdoor reviews are to be believed, there's a consistent aura of Medicare fraud about Allegiance. And that's just one company!

How do these people keep ending up getting financial support, and why do companies keep bringing them on?

Very generally speaking, folks in management positions are no smarter or wiser or more insightful than those in non-management positions. They are just as prone to bias and even more prone (IME) to lying and cheating to cover up their own mistakes and poor decisions. Those who are attracted to positions of power have much greater propensity for abusing that power.

Just like there are lots of lousy worker bees, there are lots of lousy managers. But I think managers do a better job of overlooking each other's shortcomings and past mistakes, at least if they think the person in question can do something to benefit them personally.
