Hey all, I’m a newly graduated paramedic from the Army’s flight paramedic program in San Antonio, TX. My first duty station is going to be Fort Hood, TX so the Killeen area. I volunteered in the Fort Drum area as an EMT for 3 years and enjoyed it quite a bit. Anyway I’m looking for any information people might have for volunteer / per diem opportunities in the Fort Hood area to keep my skills up. You don’t really get much hands on patient time in the Army other than deployment. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Check with the base ground paramedic unit. They may be willing to let you do ride a longs with them frequently to help keep your skills up. We offered our airevac unit the same, but they haven't accepted it yet.

Coryell hospital ems in Gatesville may have openings, as might AMR in Temple. Also, Robertson County is close and has a good reputation (rural 911). There's a lot of options.
