International volunteering for EMS

From what I've researched EMS isn't in very high demand for international volunteer positions. MSF (Doctors without Borders) for example does not ask for EMTs or Paramedics. Withing the nursing section emergency experience is one of the desired traits but is not a hard requirement.

There is an organization out of Toronto called Global Medic that sends Canadian paramedics as well as other health workers into the field but placements are short (typically 2 weeks from what the website says).

I've been looking around trying to find long term volunteer positions abroad for Paramedics but am unable to find any so far. I want to stay away from any kind of voluntourism as they never do anything worthwhile. Anyone know of good opportunities?

Red Cross actually can get you there, but you have to get seniority.

I had a coworker who was all over the place, a chronic "Red Cross bum". He was an RN however.
See what the International Red Cross or various faith-based groups can do for you maybe.
