I’ve had my EMT certification for 4-5 months now but I’m having trouble getting EMT work. I’m in my fifties and although nobody will say it I’m Guessing most companies are passing on me because my age. Any suggestions on finding my first EMT job?

Volunteering at an EMS agency that hires volunteers. It's kind of hard to give advice when we don't know what area you are looking in. Once we have that we can help more. But also look at IFT companies they constantly need people and they may be willing to take someone of your age. You are correct that your age is working against you, but you can sell your life experience and ability to relate with the patient population and overall people skills during a interview.

I got my Basic at age 67 and got hired after a month of volunteering. This year I got my Advanced at 68 and got hired in another city, so age might not be a factor. Volunteering might get your foot in the door. Hang tough and good luck.
