Hi all
So I am hoping to apply for a position with a wildland fire service this spring. I received my NREMT (EMT-B) and Wilderness EMT a couple months ago and I have contacted a number of agencies looking to volunteer or work per-diem and I am still waiting for replies. Does anyone have suggestion on how to start some hands on learning before I apply for my preferred job?

Thanks!

#1) don't ask them how to volunteer or apply for a job, fill out an application and drop it off. most agencies have websites, and some will even include the applications on line. If they don't respond to an email, make a phone call. If you can't reach the right person on the phone, make a trip.

#2) Be patient. they are working on their schedule, not yours.

#3) apply everywhere. It's better to have too many options to chose from vs not enough

4) find a busy agency. the more patient contacts you have, the more experience you will gain.
