The Paramedic, a 20yr vet, has lost a leg and is in the ICU.

0500hrs, DUI, on the wrong side of the road, head on into an ambulance with all it's lights on. Driving a company truck on a license that was suspended for a DUI.

She has lost one leg, they are trying to save the other. Multiple hip fractures. She did code early after the crash, but they revived her. Still critical.

FWIW, McLeod Medical Center, for being a smallish-trauma center, is a really solid place. Really good surgeons, anesthesia staff, and nursing staff. I spent several months doing clinical there when I was in anesthesia school, and it's just a really good place full of really good people. I only had a little interaction with EMS while I was there, but my impression of that agency was very positive is well.
