Sucks when you find a loved one is your patient/victim. Nothing prepares you for that.

Oh wow, that would be tuff.

I have treated/transported my mother before (not life or death) and that was enough for me. I couldn't imagine comming up to a scene and seeing my wife/mother/brother/sister/etc dead. Yikes... Tuff Stuff.

I don't find the story on that link. However, many years back, a fellow flight nurse responded to a house fire scene out in a rural county for a burn victim. When they arrived, he realized that was his sister's house, and that the child burned over ninety percent of his body was his little nephew. He never flew again, and soon got out of nursing altogether, went back to college, and got a new career. These things can certainly hit you hard.
