I am hoping someone with some experience in HSE (Health Saftey Environment) who works in a dual role as a medic can provide some info. I have noticed many remote medical postings looking for dual certified providers. Many of these postings, including offshore and onshore natural resource infrastructure, often ask for paramedic certification and HSE certification.
I have seen the following certifying bodies requested by different employers.
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)
  • Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Mine Safety and Health (MSHA)
Questions below:
  1. Which certification body does the international industry prefer?
  2. What is the name of the specific HSE certification employees would often like to see the medic have? For example, OSHA has many health and safety certifications, none of which is titled "HSE certification"
  3. Do these dual role positions pay a lot more than single role overseas contractor medic or remote medic wages?
  4. If you work in the industry, do you like?

I'd expect MSHA to be the most stringent, but I don't have the specific information you seek.
