I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday, and he told me back when he was looking at becoming an EMT-B with American Medical Response in 2003, he heard a rumor that if you signed a 4 year contract with them, they would sponsor one of their existing EMT-B's and put them through the EMT-P school.

Has anyone ever heard of this, or does your company/ agency have anything similar?

AMR owns NCTI-- a national EMT/Paramedic academy, and I believe still offers the same contact, although I thought it was only 2 years long. AMR, at least locally, was also willing to schedule shifts flexibly during paramedic school, to allow for either part time or full time work during classes.

Your best bet would be to call AMR or NCTI and ask. All of their trucks around here have "be-a-medic.com" on the back.
Be sure, though, to do all of your research-- into other EMT or Paramedic programs in your area, and using criteria discussed here... re: accreditation, etc.
This is in no way an endorsement or condemnation of NCTI or AMR.
