One of my regulators has put out a request for an essay on 'communication' for its upcoming annual meeting. They have provided content criteria (see below) but I'd like to take a new position on the subject rather than parot what others have already said. I'm trying to come up with a keystone story/event/etc. to build the essay around and draw specific or general examples from. Essay Criteria
In 1500 words or less:
- Describe the forms of communication.
- Identify the specific communication needs of the different groups paramedics interact with daily (patients, family, other agencies (police, fire etc), health care workers, co-workers etc.).
- Discuss the ways communication breaks down and the common points of communication breakdown.
- Discuss the actions to take in situations where communication has broken down.
