Class A tends to be more of a formal uniform (think government events, funerals, etc). Class B tends to be more of a daily work type uniform.

typically (and every agency is different)

class A is long sleeve, shiny badge, collar pins and name tag, ties, possibly a jacket too. Looks nice in pictures, great from people who are in the office, behind a desk, or spend most of their time in meetings. ie a formal uniform. usually 100% polyester

class B is long or short sleeve, have sewn on badge, embroidered name, no tie. professional appearance, but for the worker who is going on calls, working hard, getting dirty, on the ground and interacting with patients and others in a crisis. ie a work uniform. often a cotton/nomex/poly blend for comfort

If it was a hospital, Class A would be a shirt and tie... Class B would be scrubs.
