I know we have more than a few folks on this forum in central and southern CA.
7.1 is no joke, especially right after a 6.4...

How are these quakes affecting you? Longer shifts? Evacuations? Personally?

I didn't feel a thing in the Bay Area. As far as I know, we haven't been sending any assistance or anything like that.

I used to be based in the city of all of the earthquakes (if I didn’t transfer I would have actually been there yesterday).

During the first quake the local hospital did a partial evacuation. My HEMS company send 5-6 airship for evacuations, had several more on standby and also repositioned further away resources to closer areas (I was on of the crews that repositioned). We also have a list of available employees who are pretty much on an on-call status right now and have increased staffing. The pad at the hospital is decent sized so we are able to fit 2 aircraft on 1 pad simultaneously which is nice. Hall ambulance also sent a decent strike team with a mix of ALS and BLS units.

For the earthquake today we currently have 3 airships doing transfers with others standing by and again more that have been repositioned from further away bases.

The hospital so far has not suffered any major damage and all the patients being transferred out are for precaution in addition to normal transfers for higher level of care. The hospital is a fairly small one for SoCal with the ER only having 7-8 beds however the next closest hospital by ground is 1 hour 30 minutes away by ground. Ground medics don’t have ventilators here so all vented patients are being flown out.
I imagine there won’t be too many changes for tomorrow however I won’t get to enjoy the recliner at my normal base because we will probably be relocated.

Didn’t feel the first one much. The misses and girls did. The second one hit as we were on final approach at our base last night. ATC told our pilot it was actively rocking up there (eesh, not a place I would want to be in for one).

No extra long shifts thus far. Re: recalls and strike teams, fire sent some up to Ridgecrest last nite, and what @DesertMedic66 said it accurate about the first one.

Personally, meh they’re a part of living in CA TBCH IMO. @RocketMedic, do you still miss Cali?

My daughter was mostly freaked out having experienced none of this magnitude thus far in her 8.5 years.

She had my wife FaceTime me to make sure I was ok. So I guess if I had to say how it’s affected me so far? It’s made me grateful I have a loving, caring family. //shrugs// Must be doing something right...

Funny... I move out of CA and all hell breaks loose... not too much longer and I'll have ocean front property here in AZ.

More than ever. See, earthquakes are random, quick and no big deal. Even a big one is like “meh”. And there’s no mud or mosquitoes or anything. And it’s CA, which is home. And politically more my style. In summary, earthquakes are fun and I miss CA.

Also, a decent part of me is done with 24 hour shifts and CA/West Coast employers look better than Texan 12 hour ops.
