At least one seriously hurt in crash between ambulance, car in Ramapo

(This happened in Rockland County, NY..It's southernmost county in NY west of the hudson.. It's on the NJ border and about thirty minutes from NYC.)

HILLCREST - At least one person was seriously hurt this morning when a Spring Hill ambulance and a four-door passeger car collided on Route 45.

Emergency responders have called for a helicopter to take a seriously injured person to Westchester Medical Center.

At least one person had to be extricated from the sedan.

The crash took place before 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Route 45 and Harmony Road, between Hillcrest and New Square.

Father, son, two ambulance crew members hurt in Ramapo crash

HILLCREST - A father, son and two emergency service workers were hurt when a Spring Hill ambulance and a four-door passenger car collided on Route 45 this morning.

The driver of the four-door Buick, a man in his late teens, was critically injured, officials said. He was taken by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. The other passenger, reportedly his father, also was injured. He was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

Steve Kaye, captain of the Spring Hill Ambulance Corps, said the younger man was in critical condition.

Two Spring Hill ambulance crew members had minor injuries. They were taken to Good Samaritan as a precaution, Kaye said.

From what I have heard...the driver of the buick is a firefighter who was off-duty.

Well it was only a matter of time. I don't know who the driver was but route 45 is not the safest road to be driving code 3 on, especially in Hillcrest.

Yeah, actually about 1/4 mile south of that accident site.
