Includes diagram chart of historic "artificial resuscitation" techniques!

I think that examining the history of technical development in medicine, especially those dependent upon another branch for orders (such as nurses or techs depending upon protocols from MDs), can help us know how and why we are doing what we are doing, and thus point the way to either progress, or to reconsideration of measures tossed aside (such as MAST, tourniquets and spine boards have been at various times).

This study reveals other research which show that five minutes of CPR with exhaled ventilation (versus room air) may significantly decrease the chances of successful resuscitation because of hypercarbia due to exhaled air having over 16% CO2 (versus room air with about 3%) causing a "cardiodepressive effect" .
