Just an update...I got a call today for an interview for this position. I havn't found out how much the pay is yet but I'm ready to find out and excited to hopefully get this job started and get some experience under my belt.
One of my local hospitals has 2 positions open for ER Techs. One day shift position and one night shift. I know both will pay different with overnight differentials but does anyone have any clue what they start out on average around my area?
I currently have no experience as an EMT which way...
I had alot of help by practicing on family members...perform an assesment on someone in front of others. It gets easier as you go trust me...Anxiety is a huge problem for me and I made it threw the class. You will be fine, just go slow, breath, and remember your sample history.
When I was in my EMT class and we first started taking tests they really confused me because all of the answers sounds right...The biggest tip of advice I can tell you is to pick what you would do first when it comes to the ABC's....Even if it sounds like the most basic thing you should do that...
Ya thats what I'm thinking is the case around here...When I did my ride time at Carbondale which is Jackson County Ambulance Service they had people calling in to schedule pickups and transfers then we also got 911 calls.
No I don't believe they have a website at least not one that I can find.
That's the thing though, I don't know who to specifically call. Every service I know off around here runs emergency calls which I plan on applying at these places too and would be more then happy to start out like that. I just figured I'd have a better shot at getting on quicker with an IFT...
Southern Southern Illinois haha....down closer to Carbondale I'm at DuQuoin about 25 minutes North of Carbondale. I just have only seen emergency ambulance services around here and never just strictly transfers and what not. I wasn't sure if IFT was more of a bigger city sort of thing or if I'm...
How do you find out if an Ambulance service is strictly IFT? I just passed my state test to become an EMT-B and I'm just waiting for my cert. to show up in the mail so I can start applying places. I've heard that IFT's are generally the easiest to get onto because most people don't like working...
I think you'd be best off either calling or going up and asking your question in person. Just getting a new job I would definitely want to know my schedule so I can make sure I don't miss or be late for a shift right off the bat and risk losing my job.
As for part-time or full-time again you...
Good I was hoping it wasn't just me. I'm planning on applying to places as soon as my license arrives and the thought of me actually getting a job an going out an doing what I can to help just sounds crazy at thought. I guess the learning part is really about to begin.
I just found out that I passed my State test to be licensed as an EMT-B. Thanks alot everyone here for the help on this forum.
Now for my main question. Just coming out of school did you feel lost? I mean I did ok in the class but I feel like if I was put on the job that I wouldn't be able to...
I think in general most EMT-B fresh out of school will make between minimum wage to maybe $10-12 per hour starting out. Of course all of this depends on your location, overtime, call bonuses, etc....
As for going straight from EMT-B to paramedic classes that is what I am going to be doing. I...
Anyone have any clue how long it usually takes them to post the grades online? I took my test last Saturday and the anticipation is killing right now. They told us the grades would be posted before the actual scores were mailed to us just didn't say how soon that would be.
I don't know a whole lot about Anhydrous Ammonia but our instructor told us that if you walk into a cloud of that like the trooper did then it would instantly blind you and the trooper didn't seem to be effected at all by his eyes just the coughing.
Either way if its just a staged training...
Well I understand what you're saying but I mean generally its seems like there should be some type of numbers for a given region. It's not a big deal to me either way because I'm in this for the long haul regardless of pay as I think its something I'm really going to enjoy, but I was just...
First off, Congratulations to everyone who passed there Basic class this semester as most are probably done by now. Me being one of them :). Hope everybody does well on the state test. Mine here is on January 15th.
Second, Once I take my state test and hopefully become licensed I would like...
I havn't read all of the replies here but the best thing I can tell you to do is if your serious about getting into EMS then call the places that you would like to work for once you get licensed and simply ask what kind of rules they practice for tattoos.
For instance I have a half sleeve on...
