My ambu cert was just put "under review" because of prescription meds that I take (and have been taking for years). They want to make sure I'm a safe driver. I've got a CA driver license and a spotless record as well, but unless I get my cert back soon I could lose my...
I was 15 min early, dressed awesome, hair up and tats/piercings covered. Took off all my jewelery. The usual. I know there are at least 2 positions available...hopefully I'm in, thanks guys I'll keep you posted.
The only thing I'm worried about is when I was asked why I got into EMS I told...
I had an interview this morning with a private company that was extremely quick... usually they last for like half an hour, with lots of questions regarding situations I've been in, etc.
This one, they asked me some basic questions like would I pass a drug test and if I knew my way around...
My buddies ran this call. Crazy story right? Try hearing it from the lead medic on the call. So gnarly! Poor guy though, seriously. He went totally nuts (couldn't help myself).
General question, does anyone know if yet another live scan is going to be mandatory to obtain your ambulance license even after the Central Registry transition in a few weeks? I've been putting it off but I really need to get my license because my employer is on my a**. I just don't want to...
Hmm...around here we're between 21 and 33 I think...a couple older paramedics not older than 40 or 45 though.
I don't think age is a determining factor though, nursing and EMS is a completely different experience. It depends on what your passionate about. My roommate's a nursing student...
My class started with like 65 people, it was at a CA University...we had to pass with 80% as well, and get our ride along and ER time in before the class was 2/3 over or we were out. There was a lot of reading and tests, and a lot of hands on time because we would divide into smaller groups...
As an EMT-B, do I need to obtain Lifeguarding Certification although I already have water rescue training if I want to work in a camp setting as a waterfront director? I can't find the answer anywhere, and I don't want to spend the money if I don't need to.
Huh, I didn't get a whiteboard when I tested even though I read that some tests did get one. I thought NR just wasn't one of them. If I did get one I don't think I would have used it. I am a visual learner but I don't know what I would have needed it for, looking back.
And about duplicate...
Thanks, maybe she'll believe you more than me. Although still not hearing from them has her on her toes. It took a week or so for me to find out, I don't know how long it takes for others. Or maybe it's different because it was a friday.
My roommate took NR today, and she's pretty shaky about how she did. I explained to her that I was really unsure too but it didn't make her feel any better. Did ANYONE walk out of NR knowing for sure that they rocked it? I feel like there's a huge difference in being confident that you did...
I work for a daycare a couple days a week and recently was told I need to take a preventative health class through ARC in order to keep my job. Do I need to take it even though I'm already a trained and registered EMT? I'm not about to flush another seventy bucks down the toilet for a class...
It's good to have to knowledge and I wouldn't call it overkill; I'm glad I know what I do (and it's not much...my roommate is in nursing school and boy does her knowledge blow my mind, and she's not even halfway done yet).
In regards to NR, yeah not a lot of the stuff we learned wasn't even...
I've got about a million, but these are the ones that I always keep on my iTouch.
-WikEM (I know Wikipedia isn't a reliable source, but this app seems to be pretty right on and who can 100% trust an iPod app anyway)
-EMS: BLS
-EMS: ALS
-Police Radio (so I can hear what's going on at base...
I don't think that this profession is comparable to a customer service job like a grocer. I don't think that's a fair judgment at all. We spend 72 hours at a time waiting to save lives, not six hour shifts at the market bagging groceries. Totally different in regards to professionalism...
Sheesh this might just be me living it totally hippy nor-cal but I think as long as you look sharp and clean cut then it should be fine. I have really long hair (I mean, it's different because I'm a girl) but my biggest concern is washing vomit and blood out of it. It's (obviously) much easier...
