    how long?

I am afraid that I will have to take you to task on that one. I don't think that EMT's aren't properly trained. I think they haven't had the exposure that we have had to develop the critical thinking skills and the experience to tell the subtle differences. That comes with field time both as...

    Laptops in the rig

I love the idea of being able to transmit the information you have here. That would save so much time. Our service has talked about going with telemetry where we could send the 12 Lead to the ER but because of where we live, we have a lot of dead spots, we would probably have to stop the truck...

    Laptops in the rig

We have the toughbooks with EMStat on them. I think they are great and it is nice being able to do the PCR and get it done on the long transfers we have so when we get back to the station we can clean the rig and go home. Also it can be read. Ours does not have GPS capability which sometimes...

    could this have gone better

    Personal Protection

I don't think that EMT's or medics should carry weapons and that is on a personal level. I have carried a concealed weapon in my own personal vehicle years ago when I had a concealed weapons permit. Beyond that I would never carry one on the ambulance. I have known of patient's who were...

    Tutoring an EMT-B

You could also make up a Jeopardy game as a review and do some scenarios to help with the review side of the written test.

How many survived your EMT class?

As an instructor I usually lose one or two but then again I volunteer teaching EMT classes and usually have 7 to 10 students in my classes. As far as the pass rates, I usually have one that has to redo the written may be two.

Any instructors around to answer a Q?

Hey Andrea: I am an instructor from South Dakota and here is what I can tell you about allegations like that and from personal experience. If there is an allegation like the one you were accused of and it is unfounded it is usually kept in the system with Department of Social Services or...
