EMT-I, Paramedic, cpr/first aid instructor Certification programs in MA.

Don't bother with intermediate. Just work a year and then go for your medic. EMT-I are not used that often in MA (excluding the western part of the state, from what I've been told and read on here). Get a year experience, get all of the basic skills down and if you still enjoy the job, then go...

    Advice to a "Newbie"

I'm brand new, but one of the best things someone has told me was that "it's not your emergency, it's the patients." I'm not the person hurt. If I'm not somewhat relaxed and able to concentrate, I might not be able to do my job correctly.

    New EMT-B in Mass

Lawrence might be too far of a drive for you, but Patriot Ambulance just posted they are hiring. I'm assuming the position is in Lawrence. You'll be busy working there. A good mix of 911 and IFT.

    New EMT-B in Mass

! You might have better luck down by you. Just because I didn't get lucky, doesn't mean you shouldn't try!

    New EMT-B in Mass

Very low. I had 4 years CNA experience, including 1 year with the hospital (and I just got my EMT card), applied for a job in their ER, and they went right over me. There are so many people with more experience, including phlebotomy skills that they don't bother with people they'll have to train...

    New EMT-B in Mass

I asked people in real life the same thing and everyone I talked to seems to have negative opinions about most companies. I heard of 1 good company from the people I talked to, and I can't remember the name of it. The BEST thing you can do is check out companies for yourself. I heard mixed...

    New EMT-B in Mass

This exactly. I got applications from ever company that is within an hour drive from my house. I only applied to a couple before I was offered an interview and a job. There is a thread on this site that has a list of a bunch of MA companies. Here is the link...

    Pre Employment test

I took an employment test (not at Cataldo) which I thought was harder than the state test, only 20 questions, but interesting questions. I studied like crazy for it and I though I failed also, but i ended up only getting 1 question wrong. Congrats on passing! Did you have any map questions on...

    Drug Tests

I was shocked when I first started working, and wasn't drug tested, in a way I'm a little disappointed. I don't do any drugs, so passing a test wouldn't be a problem for me.

    Drug Tests

I am curious about drug testing employees in the EMS field. How many places that you have worked for or are currently working at require a drug test? Unfortunately the nursing home I work at doesn't test the employees. In a way I wish they did, because I personally feel that drugs don't...

    The Official EMTLIFE Introduction Thread

The FR course is going good, its being taught by one of the State Police instructors so its set up kinda like the police academy, just not as intense. Its good tho I am enjoying it a lot. I cant wait for the EMT course tho.

Hey everyone I'm Ricky, I'm 19 and in college majoring in biology. I work as a nurses aid in a pediatric nursing home, and I am considering a career in either EMS or working with teens with behavior problems. I am currently doing the first responder course for my college, and plan on taking the...
