67 honored at 148th FDNY Medal Day of Ceremony

From EMS1Academy: I'm posting this because I would like to be one to also honor those serving with FDNY, and thank them for their service. These peoples' courage is beyond the meaning of courage, so that's a major thing...

What's his LOC? Any known allergies as well? Seizure history? Good scenario, though. Is he in pain, maybe an NSAIDS.

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

Not trying to be any what mean to the patient or EMS personnel, but it's a good way to put it. "Do all 4 and enjoy the ride."

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

Yes, it's very good to go by.

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

No, no kind of restraint is something no one would want (unless they want to for some reason, but they shouldn't). And it is supposed to be prevented, as last resort, correct?

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

Oh, no. I was not saying that at all. I wasn't hoping for any medical advice. I was just trying to see by why the EMS personnel choose to do in the example and not other option. I including one of my experiences so no one would ask. (natural instinct...)

    Psych Patient / run away

The EMS personnel might've lost control over the pt, whether it was expected or not... But you are right, though.

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

Thanks for the response. And "Arm Escort" as in when the police and a paramedic, or both police, etc. Grab the pt's arms and walk them to the ambulance. At least, that's what they called it in my EMT books and the EMT's/Paramedic themselves.

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

Okay.... I was suicidal, and had been to hospital multiple times before. And would get released the same night/day, wouldn't be admitted. Then, "most times I took an ambulance..." I would edit the original comment, but the time limit has passed, so I'll edit it here: "So here's the kind of funny...

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

You are right. Bad wording on my part. I would not fight them or become violent, they would simply do it because I would refuse and saw no need for hospitalization. But they did it anyways. I hope this is better?

    Drug seeking patient signs?

Now the ALS people were not performing their care standards. Yes, and I do agree with you, I would file right back at them.

Any one ever had to do an "arm escort"?

So here's the kind of funny thing, I used to be physically escorted and restrained most times when I took an Ambulance, and I didn't think it was necessary and probably it wasn't even needed. Anyways, when and if any of you do an arm escort and restrain, how does your medical control work in...

Like asking a patient their favorite color for IVs?

Hahaha, just got Zofran 2 nights ago with a 21 gauge needle. It hurt quite a bit. When I got Morphine at another ER a year they failed almost 6 times before they used a "vein finder", called Accuvein. Because my veins are so small and stubborn.

    Psych Patient / run away

You get dispatched to a location with a 23 year old male/female patient (your choice), and they are in police custody and is deemed a threat to themselves. Supposedly a behavioral call. Once you are on scene, you perform the safety measure, SS, BSI, PPE, etc. The patient willingly gets into the...
