Had a patient the other day, transferred due to "multiple PE's in all lobes". Radiologist said he had never seen such a definitive positive for PE's. Now I know what a PE is, lifestyle and risk factors for one, but I have never had a patient with so many at once and am curious to know if anyone...
Long time no see everyone.
Our service is looking into putting in an RSI protocol. Due to the possibility of longer transport times as we are a more rural service, we wanted something in place for continued sedation, not just random boluses as needed. Does anyone have a protocol for drips for...
Is anyone working support for the oil spill clean up in Louisiana? I got an email about volunteering and had a few questions. If you might be able to help, I'd appreciate a PM. Thanks!
One of my co-workers had a patient with this the other day. Anyone else had one or have any information about it? All I can find on it is very basic information. Any hints for distinguishing it from a stroke? (Besides a history of epilepsy). Thanks for the help!
Anyone have ideas where I could look to maybe find some stats on how often it is used nation wide, or studies done on whether it's beneficial or not in the prehospital setting? Something along those lines maybe?
For me, 8th Grade History class. Another teacher walked in and whispered to our instructor. We then followed him out to another room to watch the news. I saw the towers fall that day.
Where were you on 9/11?
I'd like to hear some thoughts on treatments for a pt. who has renal failure, CHF, and "fluid overloaded" to the point of pulmonary edema exhibiting signs of cardiogenic shock from the CHF. The scenario would be a pt. transfer, about an hour long to the receiving facility.
This came up from a...
Interesting research being done on the flu. Like Vent stated in another thread, it doesn't really matter what animal it came from, just in what order the pieces get put together.

Hey 2 questions for the admins (or if other people know).
I have a PDF file of a journal article.
1) Can someone post a PDF on here if it's saved on their computer.
2) The article is online, however on all the sites it's at, one has to pay to view it... So does that mean that it would be...
I apologize if I'm :deadhorse: here. I did a search as well and didn't find the answer. Looking on the NREMT.org site, in order to recert as a medic, one needs to:
1. Be actively working somewhere, or if it's the first recert, have worked 6 months then be eligible to be placed on inactive...
To me at least being a Microbiology major. Sounds like they are headed in the right direction. Granted it doesn't account for blood transmission yet, but who knows what it could lead to.
Check out the article...
Calling all hams! (not the pigs)
I know there's been a thread on this before, but the site said it was old and to start a new one.
Just checking in, one for the count.
KC0HAI, tech plus for 9 years, and going to work on getting my general this summer. Had a Yaesu FT-50R until it went...
I'll start off by saying I did a search and didn't find a straight yes or no and why answer to my question. If it has been answered somewhere, my bad.
Is the Brady Prehospital Emergency Pharmacology (6th Edition) book a good one? I know many people like it, however, I've learned that just...
Go figure that I'd hear of this in my A&P lecture and not in my medic school lecture... But I came across it and thought it was kind of interesting. Anyone have some good links related to it and other similar problems? Or possibly some "war stories" in dealing with patients (I'm guessing...
