    Documentation

Copy and paste a narrative here: I am trying to get better at writing out my narrative and was looking to read someone elses idea of a good narrative. As far as some verbiage or transitions from one topic to another go, I am just terrible I currently use CHART. Maine really likes soap and CHART

    The absolute begining.

Ask for one for christmas or your birthday. My littman was a christmas gift when I was taking my EMT class. My grandmother also bought me a jumpbag with all the goodies. I am with a first responder service who routinely responds with their POV. First find out what your department or job will...

    PTSD and Paramedic Research

For mental health, I have used many outlets to help myself in times that are tough. I used to go to the gym but quickly found that my anger or frustration through the day was being transferred into my workouts, causing me to go too hard and causing injuries... The gym is a good place but only if...

Capnography for EMT-B, a useful tool?

I mean I do come from a non-transporting EMS service... we gotta have something to play with on the monitor. I think in some situations with one should come the other. The SpO2 only measures how much of whatever is attached to the blood... whether it be CO2 or O2 it doesn't discriminate. If we...

Capnography for EMT-B, a useful tool?

Capnography has been said to be useful, but its not in Maine EMS protocol for basics. There is nothing wrong with reading a waveform if you are trained to do so. What do you think? Is it helpful? What scenario would you think this to be most helpful? Where do you think it would not be useful? Do...

Acute coronary syndrome /MI/STEMI and Oxygen administration

I heard recently that research suggests not to give O'z to a patient who is having acute coronary syndrome/MI/STEMI because it constricts blood vessels and can lead to further infarction of the myocardium. What do you guys think? Should we be giving oxygen anyway? Do you think that the damage...

    Community Paramedic Programs

The thing about the community paramedic program in my area is that instead of the patient looking for help (such as a nurse or home health care) they are referred by a family member who feels like the patient is at high risk, or someone in the EMS community that feels that they see this patient...

    Community Paramedic Programs

I definately had the same thoughts regarding the home care nursing, and how it seems so similar. I think that is how our program works. We take high risk patients and check up on them and make sure that everything is safe, and that patients are taking meds etc. I am hoping to find out more...

    Drag/lift test during an interview?

It was really frustrating, because I had nailed the rest of the physical exam, which consisted of pushing a simulated patient, doing a stair chair with two hundred pounds (plus the stair chair), and I even lifted the stretcher with a 200 pound patient.

    Lifting Advice

Go each day, and find your baseline of what you can lift. Do some rows, some squats, some lunges (all with weights) and a few deadlifts. Back muscles and leg muscles are important! If you cannot afford a gym membership, go with a friend, or go buy a few weights to start out with. Sometime using...

    Community Paramedic Programs

I am interested in learning more about the Community Paramedic programs out there. I was recently asked to help out with PR type of stuff, and also helping out with the Community Paramedic program. What are some things that a Community Paramedic program does? Does your CP program have anything...
