    Oklahoma Ambulance

Although the company I work for doesn't do 911's, we do emergent IFT's 25% of the time, our company has 11hr shifts maximum, no 6th/7th shifts during one week and a minimum of 8hrs required before shifts. I like the policy but I understand many 911 ambulances have to mimic Fire's schedule

Where are my Kern county Medics at? (quick question)

Every Trauma 1 or Trauma 2 center I have seen/researched/been to was also a stroke and stemi center. Weird that they have trauma and not stemi but I guess the guidelines are different. They might be like a lot of Kaiser facilities and have PPCI capabilities during business hours

What kind of personal AED do you have?

Actually, there is only 1 AED that is over the counter: Phillips Heart Start AED.

What kind of personal AED do you have?

That's a good question, and I will check on that in the morning. As far as I know, they just want me to give them as much info as possible and send in the AED for them to download the info. I know that when they download the info, they can send it to the patient's physician/hospital to help with...

What kind of personal AED do you have?

Oh, I know. Response times vary. But like I said, I'm not going to try and rush FD to the scene. If it is down the street, my own family member or nearby, I will go. But I am not going to race in my car 2miles away.

What kind of personal AED do you have?

I will probably have a chat with an attorney. I know if I go and help someone that I will probably be asked by fire to leave. I even assume that once they arrive, they take over, get my info and I leave. Now, if they need my help, I am more than willing to help. If they don't, I give them my...

What kind of personal AED do you have?

I don't impersonate myself, have no badges/insignia or logos of any kind. I wouldn't interfere if they were already on scene, if the patient or the family didn't want me too. I would simply tell them, I heard on the scanner you called 911, do you mind i I help? Hell, if they dont know CPR or...

What kind of personal AED do you have?

I know your not attacking me, and I appreciate the advice. 1st, the device self tests itself every morning at 1:40AM. Second, there is a Green/red service button. Green=good red= needs service. Battery indicator is 100%/75%/50%/25%. The pads and battery expires in 2015. Every week/other week I...

What kind of personal AED do you have?

I listen to the scanner which is perfectly legal, and have been for 5+ years. I don't just sit around or drive around hoping to jump on one of these calls, no. I listen to the scanner because it is interesting and have been doing that long before I owned an AED. Also, seeing as I have elderly...

What kind of personal AED do you have?

Not affiliated with any agency. The medical agency I pay $100 a year for makes me upload monthly maintenence/tests to their secure database online. Also, in case I ever use it they send me a box and a label and they download the data and do an after arrest report/investigation. Before choosing...

What kind of personal AED do you have?

I understand. I just love helping people, so even if its 3am I won't mind.

What kind of personal AED do you have?

Not very many in our city. And if I hear a full arrest nearby on the scanner, I can respond maybe before FD. It was pretty cheap, and I like peace of mind.

What kind of personal AED do you have?

Just curious as to what type of AED you have/own personally if you do. I have a Survivalink 9100 AED. Bought it off of Ebay for a outstanding price, new battery, new pads and came from a sheriff's department. I pay $100 a year for medical direction/prescription too, but that doesn't compare to...

Ran into some trouble on MCI training

I am aware, but it is much better than nothing and it will help the OP with his MCI skills. Anyways, EMT-B is just glorified first aid.

Ran into some trouble on MCI training

Think about joining your local city or county's CERT(Community Emergency Response Team). It is usually free, looks good on the resume but more importantly for you, it will help you work in a major incident with a lot of patients. Where I live, when I was doing CERT, we had to mock find, rescue...

I Want Stryker and Ferno stretchers

From a licensed business who has been around for years and who regularly does business with city and state governments, I wouldn't.

I Want Stryker and Ferno stretchers

Wrong. I already found some power pros at 4.7k each for him. Gave him the info, just waiting to see if the company has enough for him

What are you looking at spending per stretcher?

Air Evacs Services transports patient despite protest

That's why you take her to the ER right by the Helipad to be examined by an ER doctor and possibly a neurologist(hosptial lists neurologists on staff) who has obviously more authority and experience than an EMT/medic. And I would especially do that if the patient was protesting being flown
