They will either put you on a permanent IFT rig or you will be a floater until they find you a spot. I was a floater for like 2 months so they would schedule me about half IFT shifts and half 911. After that they placed me on an IFT shift which I was on for about two months. Then I had enough...
I would recommend mapping yourself throughout the shift even when you're not on the call to get familiar with the area. Then when a call drops you know exactly where you are so it's one less thing to worry about.
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone on here applied to Daniel Freeman Paramedic School at UCLA and has heard anything back yet. The program starts in May and the application deadline was 12/13/13.
Thanks
Why is a college student making out with a child in middle school? It might be hard if a company asks you about what happened because we often go on calls that have children involved.
I've been working as an EMT for a 911 company in LA for the past 6 months, and I'm wondering which program you would recommend. I am almost positive I want to attend Freeman Paramedic program when I am complete with the prerequisites, however I do not know where I should take them at. I have not...
Pacific treats their employees like crap from what I have heard. My friend works for them and says dispatch at Pacific is ruthless. However, you will still be getting EMS experience at Pacific and it's what you make of it. Every now and then I'll come across a Lynch employee, they always seem happy.
You nailed it on the coffin, however, Care responds code 3 to every call in LA,Fullerton, and Anaheim. Go to Care over Doctors if you can because at Care you will get more experience. You can work in house at the fire stations with the crews in Anaheim,Fullerton, and La habra. Also, in LA the...
There is a story I heard of a guy who worked at my company who fainted on scene. The EMT was new and the call was a serious GSW. I guess the guy fainted on scene immediately once he saw all the blood. He quit that day.
If you're worried about seeing copious amounts of blood just remember, once...
The medics in LA let us EMT's do a lot, which is why we like it so much. I've talked to some ER techs at Kaiser Downey and they seem to like it. Being a tech is just a different side to the EMS field, you'll be with patients for a longer time.
