That duty kilt is funny! I'd love to get away with wearing that... I don't think it's ever happen those. Good for the guys and gals who are able to rock those!
I vote against dating in the same company but dang it you spend so much time around them! lol. I would absolutely prefer a firefighter over a non-firefighter just because most who aren't don't understand why I want to up and leave to run calls, lol.
I agree although it's a lot of work. Dedication and determination are a must going through paramedic school. If you're unsure, try some ride alongs even... different stations will do different things in terms of the majority of their calls. So in that sense, make sure you know the dominant call...
Both. I don't know what your state's firefighter school consists of but it's been a piece of cake for me to do both. West Virginia has a blended learning program where the classroom stuff is online and the hands on practical applications are completed in two weekends (over 70 hours or so...)...
I'm turning 25 in February and I realize that 18 and 19 year olds are stupid and that I was definitely one of those stupid 18 or 19 years olds because I didn't take anything serious... now, 6.5 years later, I'm still in school. lol.
So that's where it went! Gee, thanks! :) I need my ninja sword back, please!
Disclaimer: I know this guy! lol.
JS (that's your new nickname) - I should put a signature on my profile stating that I know you so people don't think I'm whacked out on anything... lol. All in good time...
Heyyyy! I know you! Haha. Glad to see you on the site! (I'm the one that told you about it - must maintain my secret squirrel identity though!) I agree, it seems quite intimidating but I know we will rock it...!
I work at a fire station on their EMS squad and yes, the firehouse does have a fitness room, although I have never seen it.
Many gyms in Morgantown will also offer discounts to EMS personnel.
My favorite acronym by far is OMGWTF... followed closely by LMFAO.
(It's a joke...)
There's a list of acronyms in the BLS field guide book you can get from bookstores or online. The yellow one. I follow that when doing trip sheets because I can always go back and look if I forget what an...
LOL I'll say EMT Life, Just Add....?
Did the same thing this morning though... got up to take the dog out, ended up on EMTLife.
What shall we call that?
I'm new here. Still feeling my way around. New to being an EMT too. So new I don't have my state card yet...
Started medic classes today... definitely looking forward to being able to do a little more then nothing in a year, although WV protocol aren't bad. Can administer nitro, epi and...
I am going to the one at Pipestem State Park in West Virginia from February 19-26th. If anyone wants info, go to the West Virginia Office of EMS site and the link for the ESCAPe conference is on the left on the home page. It'll be my first.
I second the 5.11 Tactical route and that's what I am going with... if you just google search the boots ( I like the XPRT 8" boots ), multiple options for websites to order from will come up.
I have had great luck with LAPoliceGear and TheFireStore seems to have a lot of equipment, clothing...
Took the NREMT=B the middle of December and my test stopped at around 121 questions and I failed. Many classmates tests stopped at 70 and they failed as well. Got my letter stating that I "nearly passed" everything. Grr! Will be retaking in January. :)
