    Police save Cardiac Arrest PT

I thought this was pretty neat to see. I think the police and the RN who stopped did an excellent job until medics arrived. http://connect.jems.com/video/cardiac-arrest-rapid-city-police-aug-27

    New NREMT standards

I have been asked to go over the new NREMT standards for the CBT EMT and Advanced EMT testing. I spent most of the day speaking to Pearson VUE discussing the new information and actually had the opportunity to take both test. The new test will be much harder than the current standards from what...

    EMT-B Certification

My question is this. Should the EMT-B certification continue to exist or should it be done away with? It seems every year the training gets shorter and the incoming number of EMT's gets larger. Is it time to get better organized and require a more advanced program?

    Cool Vest

I was informed that we have a meeting this week with a guy that sells the Cool Vest. This is a vest that circulates cool water for hyperthermic PT's. I have used a similar system last year on the BP oil spill but not for Hyperthermia. Anyone ever seen this system or currently using this system?

    Best end of shift ever!!!!!

After a decently busy day we had the best call ever (IMO). With about 30 minutes left to go we got a call for a female with a laceration to her leg. Upon arriving we find a 24yo female in a skin tight dress with a 6 inch laceration to hew lower calf. My partner insisted on doing assessment so I...

    Needing to Vent

I don't normally complain about much. I usually tend to do my job and keep to myself. But tonight was one of the worst off duty experiences I have ever had. A friend called needing some help in a neighboring county. On my way I came across an MVC that had just happened. 68 yo male driving an...

    Newbie to site

Just wanted to say hello and tell you a little about myself. I have been an EMT off and on since 1987. I transferred to South Carolina a couple of years ago and was layed off last year so I decided to return to the EMS field full time. I look forward to many discussions and making new friends.:)
