    Confidential Consult

There is a strong difference between a sockpuppet with malicious intent and asking a confidential question with constructive value that protects anonymity. I am not sure why the two are being conflated by the admins.

    Confidential Consult

I really like the idea of people being able to ask a confidential question and see no problem in them making a new username to do so. I don't know why the policy can't or shouldn't be amended to allow that, particularly if they disclose that their new account is only for the purpose of the...

    Doctors as patients

I had a retired neurologist as a patient one time. She was rather elderly and frail, but loved talking neurology. I am a future neurologist so I was particularly interested in what she had to say. She didn't get involved in her own care too much, but did ask a lot of good questions. I like the...

EMS during the terror attack in bulgaria and Israeli EMS forces aid

Israel is nothing but prepared and has excellent expertise in EMS. I lived in Israel from 1999-2001 and was always so impressed with the EMS service there. Bulgaria is a place that has a poorly funded EMS system, in addition to little experience is mass casualty incidents. The swift actions of...

thrombolytics not effective in treatment of strokes?

Their podcasts are incredibly informative. They clearly delve very deeply into the data. Dr Newman says he would not use thrombolytics for stroke as the evidence doesn't show that it helps and that it might kill the patient. Dr Shreeves pointed out that the internaitonal stroke study showed that...

Who here is going from EMT to RN?

In earnest, I wish more medics would become PAs instead of RNs (unless they are pursuing NP positions). The prescriptive authority exits as does a level of prestige and respect with physicians that might not exist with RNs (sadly).

I think this is the very first time this topic has been discussed here. Subscribed.

N.J. Supreme Court rules Plainfield couple can sue city's rescue squad

So the individual EMTs nor their officers, commanders, physicians, etc can be sued, you can sue the squad as a corporation/entity. The solution is simple, in that case. Simple close the squad and reopen the next day as Plainfield EMS Squad or some such, with the same address, same people, etc...

Has anyone dated or married a former patient?

I haven't. I think there is a pretty strong ethical argument to be made that it isn't allowed if you're primary interaction with this person is as your patient. If you already know them previous to your EMS interaction with them then it might be ok, but you should still seek an ethical consult.

thrombolytics not effective in treatment of strokes?

I've been listening to a lot of their podcasts. Very informative! Too bad we can't get ConEd for it.

    atp in the cell

Remember, when ATP is used up is becomes ADP, indicating it has lost a phosphate atom. The molecule then becomes positively charged due to the unfilled orbital that the phosphate once filled. The phosphate is added back during the Kerbs cycle in the mitochondria.

    Certs

I just took PHTLS last week. I found it really helpful to refresh my trauma skills. I enjoyed the focus entirely on trauma. I am planning on doing AMLS next, along with PALS, and ACLS some time after March 31, 2013 (next recert cycle).

I am very curious to know about the employment of the technical solution that would, in fact, allow the content in email notifications to be re-enabled. I patiently await your on-topic reply.

I understand that there appear to be some technical issues that might prevent this suggestion from going forward but I promise you that the solution is within reach. What is preventing the employment of the technical solution? It's clear from the previous thread that the users of the forum want...

The technical fix for this is rather simple and easy to do. I would be happy to do it for you if you would like. Please turn back on the content of posts in emails. Please enable it.
